Alfred Spiessberger, created by former Children's Villages alumni and supported by European sponsors, is enabling graduates of the Children's Villages to obtain a modest house at a cost of only $us 6000.- By paying an initial rate of 10 % and making monthly payments of $us 36.- for a period of 12 years, they will, in turn, enable another graduate entering the job market to start the process once again. This will enable every young person leaving the Children's Villages and starting independence to live in affordable housing; single rooms or small apartments in the Cities where costs would be too high for their modest income. |
The Madre Maria Mother and Child Center |
---|
The Mother and Child Center Madre Maria accomodates 50 single mothers to help them in their time of need. The aim is to educate the mothers to enable them to properly take care of themselves and their child. Since the foundation's opening to the present time, 64 mothers have found a temporary home in this Education-Center. From these mothers, 14 have acquired a technical career or completed preparation-courses. The low teaching level is due to the instability of the stay at the center and the low school-knowledge they possess when they arrive. Nevertheless all mothers get courses like basketmaking, textile-processing, painting, handicraft, tailoring and baking. (Founded August 22, 1997) |
The Clara Cuchio Center |
The Clara Chuchio Center is located in the district of Santa Cruz. This centre was built to provide and promote technical education, as well as religious seminars, to all children, teenagers, personnel (house mothers), aunts and to personnel from the social care sector. The Center's purpose is to provide additional help and support to achieve better results, by benefiting the children through improved eduction. The land for this (appr. 3000 m2) was donated by former alumni (who grew up in the Children's Villages), who had established a Housing Fraternity called "Alfred Spiessberger". These teenagers have decided, through their own efforts, to give something back for all what they had received in terms of education and care during their stay at the childrens villages Groundbreaking Day was September 18, 2001 with final Inauguration on February 4, 2003. In addition, a chapel in honor to the Holy Mother Mary was inaugurated by Cardinal Julio Terrazas on May 31, 2003. |
